Parents please make sure your child is practicing their math facts. We will begin taking timed tests to see if they have been practicing during the year. Many students need to practice the counting on strategy and counting back for subtraction.
Their login is their first and last name (no spaces) followed by the number 24. Their password is cat123

When you are on the site please click on 1st grade skills. Then, scroll down to Addition-Skill builders. At this point of the year your child should have completed both the addition and subtraction skill builders. Other addition and subtraction concepts they can practice concepts are B1-B14and D1-D13. You may reinforce adding and subtracting double digit numbers by going on B17-19 and D15-D17. Also, N1 is what our students should continue practicing and for those who need an extra challenge they can do N2 & N3.

On the homework checklist sent home at the beginning of the week there is a place to check off that you practiced math facts. Please practice math facts at your child's level until they are automatic. It is up to you to determine their level. Start out with easy math facts (+1, +2, +3, etc.) and work toward the more difficult math facts. Work on math facts until they become automatic. Automatic means they can answer the math fact in 3 seconds or less. If you would like a system to go by, you could visit the Math Fact Cafe website for a sequence of math facts. You can practice math facts on a favorite website, use flashcards, worksheets, or whatever else you might enjoy.
